Joseph Morelli

Broker In Charge

Joseph joined Quartermaster Properties as Broker in Charge in March 2018. Previously a broker/agent with Keller Williams, Joseph has been in the real estate sales and investment business since 2001. Prior to that he served in the US Navy for nearly 30 years.

During his military career, Joseph moved 14 times. He knows all too well what it’s like to transition to a new location and have to make new contacts: a plumber, a repairman, a dentist, a veterinarian, etc. Because of his familiarity with the process, Joseph considers his first job to help you acclimate to the area and find the services you need. And along the way if he can assist with your real estate needs, then he’s happy (and well-equipped) to help!

Joseph has a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate/Finance from Syracuse University, is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College, Montgomery, AL and holds a master’s degree in Aviation Safety from Central Missouri State. In addition, he is a retired Lt. Commander, US Navy.

In his free time, he is an avid golfer and an aviator with over 50 years general aviation flight experience. He is also a certified glider flight instructor, which he especially enjoys.

Robert Smith

Robert (Bob) Smith joined Quartermaster Properties after a storied career where he served for 40 years starting out as a truck driver in 1981 rising through the ranks serving as President and CEO from 1998. Bob brings his vast knowledge of the area and passion for serving to assisting clients with their real estate needs.

During his tenure at Goodwill the organization grew from 6 employees to more than 1300 employees across 18 counties in South Carolina. Palmetto Goodwill serves tens of thousands of people each year through education, training and employment programs. Bob's oversight included 31 Goodwill Stores, 14 Job Connection Centers, 13 Commercial Contract sites and an Industrial Trade Center. Bob brings his vast knowledge of the area and passion for serving to assisting clients with their real estate needs.

Bob is a native Charlestonian and currently resides in Goose Creek with his wife Gwen. They have two sons and four grandchildren. Bob is a graduate of both Trident Technical College (Business) and Southern Illinois University (Workforce Education).

MaryAnn Morelli

Property Manager

MaryAnn has been in the single and multi-family property management and real estate investing business for over 19 years. A native of Charleston, SC, she moved to Alabama in 1995 for a year and then on to Illinois where she lived for almost 5 years while her husband was on active duty in the US Navy.

MaryAnn understands the adventure of going back to college after raising a family and the challenges of moving to a new state and starting all over building relationships, contacts, etc. MaryAnn returned to her home state of SC in 2001 making the Upstate her home and bought her first rental property. She has been in the single and multi-family property management and real estate investing business since 2001.

In addition to MaryAnn’s experience in property management and real estate investing, she taught Introduction to Computers & Microsoft Office Suite at the University of South Carolina Upstate and at ECPI University Greenville and worked for 14 years in the IT industry, leaving in 2012 to focus her energies in the real estate industry. She enjoys riding her horse Rocky, ballroom dancing, traveling, scuba diving, and down time at home with her cats.

Jason Shamis


Jason, a Charleston, SC native, has worked in the real estate business since 2008. He initially oversaw and managed a 5,000 square foot vacation rental on Folly Beach where Quartermaster Properties began. Since that time, Jason has earned his real estate sales license to provide his clients with complete real estate services.

However, Jason’s career has not always been in real estate. Upon graduation, he joined the US Air Force and was assigned to Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, NC where he managed the maintenance of more than 30 C-130 aircraft. When his active duty enlistment ended in October 2000, Jason joined the Air Force Reserves, moved to Greenville, SC, and worked as the Assistant Golf Professional at the Thornblade Club, managing the customer service staff and coordinating multiple corporate golf tournaments throughout the year.

In 2002, after the events of 9/11, Jason was activated to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and was stationed at Joint Base Charleston, SC where he managed the maintenance and maintenance personnel for more than 50 C-17 aircraft. In 2019, Jason retired from the Air Force Reserves after serving twenty-three years between active and reserve duty. During Jason’s active duty military and reserve service he received the Diamond Sharp Award, Air Force Achievement Medal, Exemplary Achievement Award, NCO of the quarter for the Maintenance Wing, Accommodation Medal, and two Meritorious Service Medals.

With the culmination of Jason’s careers and knowledge of real estate, you won’t find a better fit to help you with all of your real estate needs. His philosophy is two-fold — no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care and always do what is right even when no one is watching.

Mary Patterson


Mary believes everyone can find their dream home in Charleston. She loves helping clients relocate to Charleston from other parts of the country, find a second Charleston vacation home, empower the first time home buyer with knowledge and choices and help a family move up to a larger home of their dreams! She helps make the process clear and as a simple as possible and is with you every step of the way.

Mary uses her passion for helping others, her 18 years of experience as a fitness and transformation coach, and her marketing and customer service skills as a small business owner to create a real estate experience that fits your needs, lifestyle, budget and timeline. Your home is your biggest investment and she takes this job very seriously. Mary helps you stay in tune with the local real estate market and the value of your home whether you are buying, selling or staying.

Mary, her husband Rich, and two boys Wesley and Ryder, love everything Charleston has to offer. When not balancing school and work, you will often find them exploring the beaches, taking a golf cart or bike ride around Daniel Island, strolling downtown looking for a great bite to eat or taking a mini road trip to the mountains.

Chrissy Highducheck


Chrissy grew up working in her family’s real estate business. Later she managed her own single-family rental property for 8 years. Chrissy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in City Planning/Environmental Studies from Western Michigan University and previously worked in Urban Renewal and Development. In addition, she operated her own professional cleaning business for several years.

Born and raised in Michigan, she has called the Upstate her home for the last 11 years. Having moved her family here from Michigan, she understands the challenges that families face when relocating, especially when making the transition with school-aged children.

Chrissy looks forward to helping families find the right neighborhood and schools to call home. Brooke Stewart

Maintenance Coordinator

Brooke joined Quartermaster Properties in 2019 as the maintenance coordinator. With her background in Project Management, Associates Degree in Computer Networking and experience as a Network Analyst, she is the perfect fit. She brings an array of skills that will ensure efficient and effective maintenance support for our clients. With her professionalism, your property maintenance needs couldn’t be in better hands. In Brooke’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her dogs, getting together with family and being outdoors.

In Memoriam of Dana Smith

Dana Smith passed away on April 19th, 2021 due to complications from Covid 19. Dana was named Realtor of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2021 and was ramping up for the best year of his real estate career. Between April and May, he sold four homes and had one under contract. He also leased four homes during this time while managing thirty other homes. He was working and answering emails while still in ICU only a few hours before he passed.

His dedication to helping people was unmatched in the real estate community and embodied all of the Code of Ethics to be called a Realtor. He absolutely loved real estate! He loved helping people find a home for their families. He loved working and interacting with people above all else.

We grieve the loss of him but are overwhelmingly thankful that he made us all better people! He became more than a colleague, he was family. Dana lived life the way we all should, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mathew 22:39).
